The Wild Atlantic Way had definitely been on our list of trips to do. Ireland is just on our doorstep from Pembrokeshire, and this much planned 15day journey along the west coast proved to be truly inspiring breathtaking, remote, and unforgettable. The coastline felt vast and powerful, each stretch more memorable than the last.
This particular painting was inspired by the Sky Road, a panoramic route beginning in Clifden, often considered the capital of Connemara. From there, we headed north, following the Atlantic as the landscape unfolded in dramatic views at every turn.
There was something strangely familiar about it too it reminded me of North Wales, with its stone walls and the occasional red corrugated tin roof in the distance. And yet, everything felt amplified, the scale was immense, the openness almost overwhelming. There were countless vantage points where we could stop, pause, and take it all in. It’s hard to describe just how breathtaking it was, you simply have to stand there and experience it.
