Cycling in Pembrokeshire is not the easiest way to travel but the perfect way to explore this epic corner of southwest Wales. Cycling up the hills, down the valleys, across the rivers and along the extraordinary coastline, there’s always something new to see. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park occupies over a third of the county and as you pedal from village to village above the craggy cliffs, it’s easy to see why. Golden sand beaches, striking rocks, fishing harbours and exquisite blue coves make you wonder why the area remains so peaceful. Nolton Haven located within the sweep of St Brides Bay, Nolton Haven is a small, fairly sheltered cove, between Broad Haven and Newgale. This beach is made up of sand and shingle with rock pools and cliffs on either side. The beach is quiet and unspoilt although in the past, like Little Haven, this was an export point for coal and a hive of activity. The flat grassy terrace above the beach was the coal storage yard and a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in both directions reveals remnants of old coal workings.
