The Woolen Mill at Trefin

Trefin is another hidden beauty spot on the North Coast of Pembrokeshire and is popular for coastal walkers and canoeist. This tranquil and unspoilt area is rich in history with rugged and unspoilt beautiful convoluted cliffs and beaches, the coastline near Trefin is especially rich archeologically.

There’s a small stream that runs down to the shingle beach below the old mill and cottages which is great for rockpools but most of the time cut off from high tide, but on this one occasion I sat above the beach sketching the rock formation with the stream bubbling behind me from the recent bad weather. It was the white water that caught my attention, with the cottages sitting proud above the disused mill. I had to sketched the image many times as I had capture the power of the water.
