Catherine Street, St Davids

I first started to exhibit my work in St Davids, and frequently painted the coast and the city as both had so much character to offer. One day when travelling back from Porthclais Harbour I noticed this little cottage at the end of the street with the cathedral just towering above rooftops of the buildings. Ideal location to park up and have lunch with sketchpad underneath the hedge. St Davids is a tiny cathedral city, no bigger than a village with loads of small streets ready to be sketched or photographed. I do find sometimes that I have to walk back over my steps in such a place as there is always a picture missed. This City is built on the site of the monastery founded by St David (Dewi Sant) in the 6th Century and is one of Wales' most iconic religious sites. Luckily for me it’s on my doorstep.
